Background listening

Visible, user-started listening on Android

Look for the ongoing notification

Listening starts only after you tap in the visible app. Android then shows a microphone indicator and an ongoing notification with a Stop action. If that notification is gone, open the app and check the status.

After a restart

Modern Android does not allow this app to silently restart microphone capture after boot. If listening was previously requested, tap the resume notification while the app opens visibly.

After Force stop

Android blocks all app work after Force stop. Open Clap & Whistle Phone Finder again and tap Start listening.

Calls, media, and Bluetooth

A call or another app may temporarily take microphone access. The finder retries several times. Bluetooth and Do Not Disturb can affect alert routing, so test the alert with your everyday setup.

Screen-off expectations

The app is designed to keep a user-started microphone service active while the screen is off, but battery controls and manufacturer software can interrupt it. Test your own phone for the length of time you expect to use it.
